Walsh PoE Lighting opened the first and only Poe lighting showroom in New Jersey, September 2019 showcasing the latest Poe lighting technology. The lighting showroom is being used as a place of learning and research for architects, designers, engineers, brokers, property owners & those interested in the latest lighting technology.
Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a single cable that provides both a data connection and electrical power to devices. Each light is addressed and on the network for seamless and granular control.
Benefits of PoE lighting

1. What is PoE Lighting?
PoE lighting refers to the ability to use an Ethernet cable to power light fixtures (luminaires) and transmit data between the luminaire and the control software. What this means is that one cable can both power and control the fixtures attached to the network.
2. Why PoE Lighting?
A centralized hub provides a single network bringing together lighting, sensors, building automation, HVAC, analytics, and other technologies. Benefits incudes:
o Supports faster and easier installation by cabling installers and integrators
o Allows for fast, easy scalability when necessary
o Permits faster moves, adds and changes without business interruption.
o Ability to perform power/energy management
o Allows real-time information sharing so that, when IP-enabled devices are connected to the network, they can send and receive information to each other and to a central location. Collect data from whole facility, specific zones, or individual spaces
o Higher efficiency, increased safety, increased comfort, and lower cost of facility operations
o Easier network management
o Centralizes management and control so devices can be managed remotely.
o Improve real estate use to decrease costs
o Improve workforce productivity
3. Why Now?
PoE Technology Evolution
Network convergence – bringing system and device communication to a single network – simplifies and reduces cabling complexity and overall infrastructure costs and makes it easier to connect devices directly to the network for data collection and sharing.
Power over Ethernet (PoE) has been a big driver in the movement toward network convergence – nearly every low-voltage device is headed in that direction. It’s rare today to see a surveillance camera or card reader that isn’t a PoE-enabled device.
4. What Project Types?
All project types can benefit from PoE lighting technology, Corporate Facilities, Healthcare Facilities, Education Facilities, Retail, Historic Renovation, etc.
